JERSEY
CITY, N.J. / February 5, 2018 – It’s no secret that higher Scholastic Aptitude
Test (SAT) scores can give students a better chance at merit-based financial
aid, open scholarship opportunities, and provide an overall edge in college
admissions.
A
successful academic future begins with preparation. It’s reported that a SAT
prep course can boost scores by an average of more than 50 points. A higher
score can even help balance out a low high school GPA.
Hudson
County Community College Department of Continuing Education is set to ready students
for SAT testing with SAT Preparation courses from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for
Language Arts Prep and 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. for Math.
Courses will run on February 3, 10, 17, 24, and March
3
. Tuition is $175 per course. There are five intensive two-hour sessions
for each section – Language Arts and Math.
The
SAT Prep courses will help students develop test-taking skills and improve SAT
scores. Pre- and post-testing will be used to measure progress. Additional
test-taking tips will be provided, along with test samples from actual SAT
exams. Students will need to purchase the College Board SAT textbook, and other
materials that may be required. The list will be included at time of
registration.
Competition
to get into top colleges can be fierce. Most education institutions emphasize
standardized test schools in their admissions criteria, and the SAT is
universally accepted and respected.
