July 17, 2019, Jersey City, NJ – Hudson County Community College (HCCC) President Dr. Chris Reber announced that John Scanlon has been named the College’s Executive Director of Institutional Research. Mr. Scanlon began working in this key leadership position on July 8, 2019.
Mr. Scanlon brings to HCCC more than 15 years of experience in institutional research and data management. Most recently he served as Associate Dean for Data Analysis and Operations in the Office of the Dean of the Faculty at Princeton University where he managed data and reporting activities, implemented process improvements, and spearheaded technical projects. Mr. Scanlon was also Assistant Director of the Office of Institutional Research at Harvard University and held data-related positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Columbia University. He holds a Master of Arts degree from Rutgers University and Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University.
In his new role, Mr. Scanlon will be the College's primary source for data and will develop external reporting systems to meet state, federal, and other accreditation requirements. He will spearhead the design and implementation of internal research and assessment projects, oversee the College’s strategic plan and related reports, and collect and integrate information to meet the needs of various constituent groups. Mr. Scanlon will coordinate data-gathering from students, faculty, staff, stakeholders, and community members, and will communicate his findings with transparency.
